WilkinsonEyre are one of the foremost architectural practices in the world, twice winners of the Royal Institute of British Architects’ Stirling Prize with expertise in the sports, transport, commercial office, education and leisure sectors.
Prominent projects in the world of sport include the competition winning Masterplan design for the Rio 2016 Games, the design of the triple-venue Carioca Arenas for Rio 2016, the Basketball arena for the London 2012 Games, the Compton & Edrich Stands at Lord’s Cricket Ground and the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.
We are experts in high quality, landmark design; masterplanning large sites; enhancing the spectator experience, crowd management and safety, lifestyle and leisure facilities, working with multiple stakeholders and promotion of the venue/sport brand and values.
Our projects are developed around the needs of the venue and event programme. We design with legacy in mind and our projects can be demounted or flexibly converted for new uses. The Rio 2016 stadium is now a permanent elite athlete training academy. Our 2012 Basketball Arena was the largest temporary venue designed for an Olympic Games.
Our vast experience across multiple sectors means we are able to deliver not only venues themselves but associated access infrastructure, transport, destination leisure, accommodation, and landscape architecture.
